ER Nurses React to the Craziest Lab Values Ever | The ER Edit Ep. 10
In this episode of The ER Edit, we react to some of the craziest lab values and vital signs nurses have ever seen. We talk through blood pressures that should not be real, glucose numbers over 2000, sodium levels that made us stop, critical troponins, ethanol levels, CKs, BNPs, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, rhabdo, and the ER nurse moments that nursing school never could have prepared us for.
We get into real emergency room stories, medical stories, and emergency medicine scenarios from the nurse perspective, including what it feels like when a patient says they are going to die, a Christmas Eve STEMI that turned emotional fast, and the patient who asked us to tell his wife and daughter that he loved them right before he coded.
Then we open up the Whisper Line for anonymous confessions, ICU secrets, relationship red flags, a no caller ID kidnapping story, and one hospital room affair that had us questioning absolutely everything. We keep it chaotic, funny, heavy, and very nurse coded, which is exactly why we made this nurse podcast.
